Seventeen 'Brows That' Brow Kit palette

When it comes to make up, my eyebrows are usually the one thing that I don't usually bother with. I have very thin brows and they are such a light colour that I worry they'll stand out too much if I put anything on them! I have heard great reviews of the Benefit Brow Zings and bought it for my sister for Christmas this year and also received a HD Brows palette in my Latest in Beauty Box, but unfortunately the set I received was a little too dark for me so I haven't used it. But while I was picking up a few things in Boots today I bought myself a concealer and lipstick from the Boots 17 collection and received this kit free for spending more than £8!

The Brows That kit contains a brow wax, brow powder, highlighter powder, brow sculpting pencil, brow brush and a handy instructions card to show you how to use the palette. I think eyebrow kits are such a cute idea and it's nice to keep products all together with a mirror rather than having a load of separate products and tools.

Swatches of the eyebrow wax, highlighter and powder
The eyebrow wax doesn't come out as dark as it looks in the palette which is great and it helps to tidy up any stray hairs. The powder is slightly dark for my fair hair so I use a minimal amount on the brush and then use the highlighter powder on my brow bone just underneath my eyebrows and it finishes the look off nicely and helps to contour the face.

My picks of the sales!

I promised myself I wasn't going to go sale shopping this year but I needed a few new clothes for work so decided to get some new clothes and avoid the beauty sales! I'm really pleased with some of the stuff I managed to pick up today...

Quilted skirt Topshop £20
I love the quilted detail on this skirt, it makes it look really smart and will be perfect for work with black tights.

Shift dress Topshop £25.
I bought a similar dress to this in a deep red colour a couple of months ago and loved this bright green colour as it will be perfect for when the weather brightens up! These were reduced from £40 so were a great bargain.

Pencil skirt Miss Selfridge £10
This skirt was also a bargain and has quilted detail on the front. I love the colour, it will brighten up all my dark jumpers.

Silk blouse Miss Selfridge £14
I don't have a lot of shirts and always need more for work so I thought this cute printed one would go nicely with some of my block colour skirts

White shirt Topshop £7
This is very basic but it fits so well and looks really smart so will be perfect for work and I can dress it up with coloured skirts and accessories.

Altogether I was pretty pleased with my sale purchases as I picked up some staple pieces and only managed to spend just over £70 in total! Have you picked up any bargains in the sales this year?

What I got for Christmas 2013.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I had a great day relaxing with my family. I love having a nosy around at what other people got for Christmas so thought I'd share some of the gifts I got.

My sister got me these lovely Benefit goodies! I am a huge fan of Benefit and always get excited when I get something from them so was over the moon when I received this. Porefessional and They're Real are some of their essential products and I recently ran out of my mini sample tube of They're Real which I got in my Latest in Beauty box so am thrilled to have the full size. Benefit's powder boxes are my favourites and I've never tried Hoola but have heard great things so can't wait to try it out!

I love these cute black pumps - I go through black dolly shoes so quickly so can never have too many spare pairs - and cute Christmas leggings but unfortunately they're a tad too small so I shall swap them for some bigger ones.

All my family make fun of me for my love of fake tan so I'm easily pleased with any kind of fake tan products! I tend to use instant tanners instead of gradual tanners so am looking forward to giving this a go. I was very lucky to get another Benefit product as well as my boyfriend got me the That Gal primer. I never get my full eight hours sleep so this brightening primer is a life saver in the mornings!

I'm in love with these pug socks and can't wait to spend my Urban Outfitters gift card!

Last but not least my boyfriend bought my this gorgeous Olivia Burton watch. I haven't worn a watch in years so it's a perfect practical present and I adore all of the Olivia Burton designs - if you haven't checked them out I recommend you have a look at their website! I love this watch as it is so simple but the rose gold face adds a touch of glamour.

If you have any Christmas present posts please leave your links below so I can see what you all got as well! Hope you have a great New Year!

The Latest in Beauty Glamour Beauty Edit box!

I think beauty boxes are a great idea but I've never signed up to one, in a bid to save my money! I recently saw a photo of the Latest in Beauty Glamour Beauty Edit box on Instagram and decided to cave and myself one.

Latest in Beauty is different to other beauty boxes as there's no monthly subscription, you can just make a one off purchase from their collection or even create your own beauty box with the range of samples they have available. This month they have collaborated with Glamour magazine to create a box full of party must haves. The box costs £14.95 and the contents are worth £65! It contains...

Eyeko lash curlers (full size), Maybelline Baby Lips (full size), Balance Me Extra Care Radiance Face Oil (mini), HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette (full size), Benefit They're Real! (mini), Philip Kingsley One More Day dry shampoo (mini) and Toni & Guy Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray (mini).

These lash curlers are super cute and glamorous as they have velvet handles. Admittedly, I never really bother with lash curlers and think they're a bit pointless but I think they will make a great gift for someone else! Plus they come with two spare rubber liners so they will last you for ages.

They're Real! Is one of my favourite mascaras and I love having the mini one as I can keep it in my handbag and it takes up less room in my make up bag. I've never actually owned a full size version of They're Real!, I always get the mini ones in gift sets and they last me such a long time!

Dry Shampoo is one of those holy grail products I can't live without and usually use on a daily basis so I always buy the biggest size of tropical Batiste so I'm well stocked up, but the bottle is huge and a bit of a pain to take around with me! So this little can is perfect for keeping in my handbag and taking to the gym. I'm so used to using Batiste that I didn't really like this one as much but it's still perfect for on-the-go use.

Hairspray is another essential to take out and about with me so I'm looking forward to using this!

This is probably the product I was most excited about having the beauty box! There was such a hype about Baby Lips before they were released then when they came out a lot of people said they didn't like them that much so I wasn't sure what to expect but after using this once I already love this lip balm! Usually with lip balms they can feel a bit dry at first and I have to use them a couple of times to "break them in" but this lip balm goes on so smoothly and keeps my lips hydrated for ages. This particular lip balm was clear and was meant to be menthol scented, the smell wasn't particularly strong but I wasn't too fussed!

This little 10ml bottle is worth £15 on it's own so it was a bargain that it was included in the box. This face oil helps to boost radiance and is suitable for all skin types. It comes with a roller ball applicator which is a really nice touch and helps to boost circulation while it is applied.

There has been a lot of hype around the HD Brows palette, I got the shade 'Foxy' which is a medium shade. I think it might be a bit too dark for me but I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Altogether I am really happy with the contents of the Glamour Beauty Edit box and I can't wait to see what Latest in Beauty bring out next month!

Bliss FatGirl Six Pack Review

If you're looking to tone up your stomach one of my favourite products at the moment is Bliss fatgirl six pack (£34). It contains caffeine, oat kernel extract, manilkara tree extract (which is rich in latex), menthol and botanical extracts to help firm up the tummy area and improve skin's texture. But the thing I love most is the special applicator. The tube has a built-in nubbed applicator that massages your skin, helping to improve circulation.

Bliss FatGirl Six Pack

.To use it you simply press the applicator onto your skin to release the gel then start working it around the skin in circular motions. The firming lotion itself is a clear gel that feels very fresh and dries quickly. It immediately improves the tone and texture of my skin and makes it feel firm all day. I use it twice a day - once in the morning and once before going to bed. Obviously using this daily won't produce results in itself - it has to be combined with exercise - but using this in conjunction with going to the gym a couple of times a week has made my stomach feel a lot firmer.

Bliss FatGirl Six Pack

My only criticism is that the applicator can get a bit clogged up with gel and can go sticky after using it. This may not be a problem for some people but I prefer to keep it clean so I usually have to wipe it afterwards which isn't good when I'm in a hurry. I know a lot of people aren't too keen on products by bliss as the names can be a bit controversial but I think they're just a bit of fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. I never used to use firming lotions but I now use this one everyday and love it. Admittedly it is a bit pricey but I think it's worth it. For a cheaper alternative I think Nip + Fab Tummy Fix Gel is equally as good and slightly cheaper!

E.L.F Studio Lip Exfoliator

This amazing product from e.l.f exfoliates lips to get rid of dry, flaky skin. It is infused with all sorts of skin loving ingredients like Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado and Jojoba Oil.

I regularly get chapped lips and lip balm isn't enough to get rid of the dry flakes - it just works as a temporary solution. But this little genius invention is perfect for treating and smoothing lips, making a great prep for lip balm!

The thing I love most about this is the fact that it looks like a lip stick. The only other lip exfoliator I've tried is LUSH's Popcorn Lip Scrub. The LUSH scrub comes in a little pot so it can be a bit fiddly and messy (and also look a bit odd using it in public), and directs you to lick it off when you use it! The thought of licking dead skin off my lips really grosses me out so I then have to worry about rubbing sugar off my lips. This lip product stays in the stick so none of the exfoliating beads flake off - they just smooth away dead skin and you can rub over it with a moist tissue or wipe, ready to add lip balm! I follow it with Apivita Cocoa Butter lip balm.

The other great thing is that this is an absolute bargain! It costs just £3.75 and can be bought online here.

Primark Autumn Workwear Haul!

Hello! Some of you may already know, if you follow me on Twitter, that I have a new job! I am now officially a journalist after completing a Print Journalism degree at Nottingham Trent University and graduating in July. I am going to be a trainee reporter for my local newspaper and am absolutely over the moon! I will be starting my new job on Monday so went out and got myself some new smart clothes to wear and am so pleased with some of the things I picked up, which I thought I'd share with you...

Grey midi pencil skirt with velvet baroque detail £8.

Black blouse £8.

Navy blue shirt £9.

Burgundy red dipped hem shift dress £13.

Navy soft fabric blazer with anchor detail buttons and fold up sleeves £13.

While I was there I also picked up some basic shoes and argan oil for my hair!

Nude pumps £4 Argan Oil £2.50

I also thought I'd share with you this gorgeous diary I picked up from the Pound Shop! I love the floral design, it almost looks similar to Cath Kidston, it was a great bargain and will help keep me organised at work

Altogether I spent around £57 in Primark which is usually a lot for me but I recently bought myself some new work wear from ASOS when they had the 20% student discount and I managed to get a lot of similar things in Primark for half the price so as soon as my ASOS order arrives I will probably send a few things back to save myself a lot of money! All the items I bought are quite basic so they will make excellent wardrobe staples and I can mix and match things so they will last me a long time.

Have you picked up any Primark bargains recently? What are you buying for the change from Summer to Autumn?
