Byron Hamburgers opens in Camblerley

There are soo many places to get a burger these days, but how do you know which is "the one"?! Where serves the best burgers in town?? I don't know. So when Byron burgers opened up in my local town I was very excited to give them a go. There are plenty of restaurants locally to me that serve burgers, but no specific burger joints (like GBK) so I think Byron is a welcome addition to the town!

About Byron
Although I'd heard of Byron I'd never tried one of their burgers. Byron prides itself on selling "proper burgers". Scottish beef, cooked medium, served in a soft bun with fries and a beer. There are around 50 restaurants in total - mainly in London, with some in home counties.

The menu is very simple - which doesn't make deciding overcomplicated. There's the 'classic' burger, cheese or 'Byron' (bacon and cheese). There are three specials;
B-Rex, served with an onion ring, bacon, American cheese, jalapenos, pickles, BBQ sauce & mayonnaise
Chilli Queen, Green chilli, American cheese, shredded iceberg and chipotle mayonnaise
Le Smokey, Smoked Cheddar, streaky bacon, crispy fried onions, shredded iceberg, pickles and smoked chilli BBQ sauce
Or there is also a chicken, veggie, or 'skinny' (served without a bun) burger to choose from.

Then of course you can add extra toppings, sauces and dips or double up on your meat.

The burgers don't come with chips so you can opt for chunky skin-on chips, french fries or courgette fries (which I didn't try but heard are amazing). Or if you don't fancy a burger at all (although why would you go to not have one?!) there are four different salads to choose from.

The drinks menu is very extensive and there are 15 beers available as well as wines, cocktails or milkshakes.

My thoughts

I went along with my boyfriend and we had some nachos to share while we waited. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with these - they were pretty dry, nowhere near enough cheese or salsa. Still, I had high hopes for the main courses. I chose the Byron burger with skin-on chips and my boyfriend went for the B-Rex with skinny french fries. I had a chocolate milkshake which tasted incredible, almost like ice cream, and he had a Camden Hells beer.

The burger was cooked perfectly and tasted really juicy! I loved the simplicity of them yet the fact they tasted amazing and were really filling! Plus the prices weren't too bad - the burgers range from £6.75 to £10.50. We had a great night and I will definitely be back soon!

  1. Yum that burger looks amazing and the chocolate milkshake sounds really good too! I am feeling a bit hungry after seeing this pictures now haha! Great post :) xx
