#BloggersBelowZero London Icebar Event

Monday evenings for me are generally spent trying to get home from work as soon as possible then hibernating and doing little else until it's time to get up for work the next day! BUT last Monday I was very excited to be going along to a LDN Meet Up bloggers event at the Icebar!

I'd wanted to go to the Icebar for years so was very excited to be finally going along - and with some lovely bloggers! A while ago I wrote about my trip to Winter Wonderland organised by Lauren from Blonde Vision, and this was another event organised by her.

Products I've been loving this week

I like to switch up my make-up from time to time but for daily wear I have a collection of 'go to' products that I wear for work.

This week I have loved using Clarins Skin Perfecting BB Cream as my base. I usually apply foundation with a brush or sponge but I prefer to apply this BB Cream with my hands as it feels more like a moisturiser (the woman at the Clarins counter in House of Fraser also told me that Clarins makeup works like skincare and works better if you warm it up in your hands first!).

In the past I have usually worn bronzer on top of my foundation but my skin has been super pale recently and even the light bronzers just don't seem to look right on me! Plus with the cold weather my skin has been very dry and most powders look a bit cakey. Rather than use a bronzer all over my skin I just sweep a little under my cheekbones. I use the Sleek Face Form Palette in the shade 'Light' - which contains a bronzer, highlighting powder and blush (I have reviewed the palette in full here). I use my Body Shop blusher brush to apply highlight on my cheekbones then the pinky blush on the apples of my cheeks.

For my eyes I can't live without Benefit Eye Bright pencil, a pinky highlighter applied in the inner corners to make my eyes pop. I usually opt for Benefit They're Real Mascara but I recently purchased MAC Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara and find it is a good alternative for every day wear. I don't usually wear eyeshadow so just opt for some black liquid liner instead - 2True Liquid Liner is a great drugstore product and is super cheap from Superdrug!

Finally, having blonde eyebrows, I usually apply a little colour to make them stand out, but don't want to look OTT. MUA does a great eyebrow gel called Brow Define which is essentially a tinted mascara for eyebrows. It comes in a range of shades and I use mid-brown.

One of my favourite brands, Clarins, has just launched Joli Rouge Brilliant lipsticks - a combination of a lipstick and a balm it is incredibly moisturising with a subtle shine and a sheer finish. I wear the shade 'Raspberry' and it delivers a perfect hint of colour which looks very natural. I look forward to doing a full, separate review of this soon!

And there we have it! Have you tried any of these products? Which makeup products have you been loving this week or using on a daily basis?

Cooking with Gordon Rhodes

One thing I miss about living away from home is my mum's cooking. After a long day at work I am sometimes unmotivated to cook myself - but planning ahead and getting food out ready for the next day has helped me to stay prepared. I am SO glad that we have a slow cooker too, we can just chuck some ingredients in, leave it on while we go to work, and come home to dinner being ready!

During the cold weather one of my favourite dishes to make in the slow cooker is a beef stew. I recently made one using this Gordon Rhodes Gourmet Sauce Mix. Read on for recipe, ingredients and how to cook!

Urban Decay Naked Weightless Ultra Definition Foundation

Urban Decay Naked Weightless Ultra Definition Foundation

Urban Decay Naked Weightless Ultra Definition Foundation

Urban Decay is well known for its famous Naked eye palettes, but they have now extended the range with Naked lip gloss, concealer, beauty balm, powder and foundation. I recently tried out the Naked Weightless Ultra Definition foundation (£27).

The foundation combines luminosity, weightlessness and coverage, with a demi-matte finish and light-diffusing particles to help blur imperfections.

My evening skin care routine

I use a lot more skincare products on my face in the evenings than I do during the day. For me, mornings are all about having a clean base ready for the day but at night time I need to thoroughly remove my makeup and any other grime that has built up throughout my day, moisturise and prepare my skin to nourish itself overnight and ready for the day ahead.

Winter Wonderland / LDN Secret Santa

By far my favourite thing about blogging is getting to meet fellow bloggers with similar interests! I have been fortunate enough to meet some lovely bloggers over the last few years, but as I used to live in quite a remote area and was so busy with working it made it hard for me to attend blogger events. Now that I am living and working in London I hope to make the most of more opportunities and get to spend more time with bloggers.

A handful of bloggers also go the extra mile by organising great events for bloggers to meet up and socialise. A few weeks ago, the lovely Lauren, from Blonde Vision, put together another @LDNMeetUp event - a Secret Santa event at Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland. As usual I was too busy chatting to remember to take pictures on my camera - whoops!...

I had never been to Winter Wonderland before (obviously been hiding under a rock for the last 23 years!) so I couldn't wait to go along for some festive cheer. Unfortunately for a group meeting up in such a large location it was almost impossible for us to all find eachother but Lauren did a great job of calling everyone and directing!

We had each been assigned people to buy for before the event using the website Draw Names, and then met up to exchange gifts. I bought for Becky from Becky Bedbug, who I already knew from a couple of previous events and oddly we used to live near each other when I lived back home in Surrey! After a little stalking and checking out her wishlist I decided to get her a Tangle Teezer. My Secret Santa got me a lovely John Lewis candle, which is perfect for my new flat, and some chocolates. I still don't know who it was though so thank you whoever you are!

After a wander around Winter Wonderland and munching on some burgers we chilled out in the beautiful Mr Fogg's pub, which, although is just a temporary structure looked like a traditional oldy-worldy pub inside.

I had a great night with all the LDN Secret Santa girls and can't wait for Lauren's next event - a trip to the Ice Bar in a couple of week's time!

Thai Kosai Massage Boutqiue, London

Thai Kosai Massage Boutqiue, London

Thai Kosai Massage Boutqiue, London

The last few weeks have been something of a whirlwhind for me. After starting a new job in October I decided to make the big move up to London and moved in with my boyfriend. We moved in to a lovely flat in Streatham at the start of December and, while I couldn't be more in love with our flat I never could have predicted how stressful moving house could be!

Taking a day off work and treating myself to a massage was exactly what I needed, so I was thrilled to get booked in to Thai Kosai, a traditional Thai massage boutique.
