Free Fitness in London

Living in London it's likely you will end up paying double for pretty much everything - so why fork out on a gym membership when there are so many free classes and training sessions to get involved in!

Free classes
  • Sweaty Betty
Offer free classes including yoga, barre and HIIT in Sweaty Betty stores up and down the country. Places fill up fast so make sure you book well in advance! 

  • Nike Women
Just for the ladies! Nike runs free training at its stores in Westfield, Covent Garden and Kings Road. There is also outdoor training in Clapham Common, Regents Park, Victoria Park and Regents Park. Sessions include Yoga, Get Toned and Run to Train. Again, places fill up fast so book quickly!

  • Lululemon 
Free yoga every Sunday at 10.30am in Covent Garden, King's Road, Westfield and Marylebone. It's completely free and there is no need to sign up, but it's first come first served so make sure you get down there early to nab a space. There's also a weekly run club every Wednesday in Covent Garden at 6.15pm. Subscribe to their events on Facebook to get notifications for each new session.

  • Heartcore
Sign up to get one free trial class (choose from pilates, TRX or barre) at Heartcore's studios in Kensington, Notting Hill, Hampstead, Chelsea, Fulham, Park Lane, City and St John's Wood. After that, the classes can be quite pricey but it's worth claiming your free session!

Outdoor training
  • Project Awesome
If you're mad enough to want to exercise before the sun has risen, Project Awesome will see you running, jumping whooping and high-fiving at 6.30am. I've never tried a session, because I love my bed too much, but the participants look like some of the happiest, most enthusiastic people I've ever seen. Sessions take place every Monday (different locations), Wednesday (at The Scoop, Tower Bridge) and Friday (Primrose Hill).

  • Our Parks
Free classes throughout parks in London suitable for all ages and abilities. Classes are colour coded (Green for light workout, Blue for moderate) so you can select whichever is right for you. They range from Hackney to Queen Elizabeth Park, Fulham, Camden, Lambeth and more.

  • British Military Fitness
Membership usually costs between £27 and £32 a month, but you can enjoy one free trial class. Bootcamp sessions take place all over London - expect plenty of running, push-ups, squats and all over body exercises!

Free gym passes

Most gyms offer free day passes and if you can't see any advertised on their website - just ask! Gyms will be happy to give you a free trial if you are considering a membership or just want to try out the facilities. Here are a few that let you sign up for free passes:

Running clubs
  • Park Run
A weekly timed 5km run on a Saturday morning. I used to do these when I lived at home in Surrey and loved how organised the events were. You have a unique Parkrun barcode which is scanned at the end to reveal your time. Most take place at 9am so are great if you are happy to sacrifice your weekend lie in! Parkruns take place across London, just register online and turn up on the morning!

  • Be Fit London
Another one that is just for ladies! #BeFitRun takes place every Tuesday evening setting off from 111 Buckingham Palace Road (Victoria, SW1W 0DT). 6pm for beginners at 6.30pm for intermediates. Spaces are limited and need to be booked in advance so follow Be Fit London on Twitter and look out for their Tweets each Tuesday calling for runners - Tweet them a place to book!

  • London Midnight Runners
Weekly evening runs as well as weekend day time runs, regular exercise boot camps and monthly midnight 10km runs to music. Most events take place in the evening and are followed up by drinks! Subscribe to their events on Facebook and just turn up!

  • Or of course you can always just strap up your trainers, go outside and run on your own!

  2. CRACK THE EGG.... All players are up on the trampoline. One player is chosen to sit in the middle of the players who have formed a circle around her. The player in the middle sits with knees drawn to chest and arms around her knees. Players jump around her until she "cracks" or releases her arms from around her legs. **Recommended for ages 5+ with a minimum of three players.
