ARK is a skincare brand I hadn't heard about up until recently. The 'age aware' skincare is prescribed by skin age, rather than skin type, so ARK has split its products into three ranges; teens to early 30s, mid 30s to 50 and 50 & over. This is because these are the main transition periods where there is a shift in hormone production and a change in the way the body functions.

Being 22, I fall within the first range. This is where our skin is at its peak, but it is still important to prepare for the ageing process by maximising the skin's quality and taking preventative measures against future signs of ageing - especially by protecting the skin against sun damage and environmental factors.

I recently tried out a product from the Age prepare range, for teens to early 30s. The Anti-Ageing Skin Protector Primer with SPF 30. ARK describe it as a daily defence product that leaves skin looking flawless. It offers UVA and UVB protection to prevent sun damage and premature ageing. It also contains Vitamin E and Shea Butter to nourish and protect the skin.

My first impressions were that it is very different to other primers I have tried. Some primers have a thick, almost solid, texture but this has a very thin consistency and is more like a moisturiser. Saying that, it felt lovely going on to my skin and although I didn't notice much of a difference in how easily my make-up applied, it lasted all day and my skin felt a lot more hydrated and had a nice glow about it too.

I've been using this on top of my moisturiser daily and it helps my skin to look a lot more healthy. I have very sensitive skin so it can sometimes react to the cold weather but I have seen an improvement in it since using this.

ARK Anti-Ageing Skin Protector Primer with SPF 30 costs £36 and is available online.

He-Shi Rapid 1 Hour Liquid Tan and Sublime Dry Oil

Just when you think you've tried every fake tan brand, another appears that you haven't tried before! I've read a lot about he-shi on Twitter and in blog reviews so I was tempted to try these two products out.

The Rapid 1 Hour Liquid Tan provides instant colour on application, which is a lovely golden colour, and dries quickly, providing finished results in just 60 minutes. I have used some other one-hour tans in the past and find that the majority of the colour washes away if you shower after 60 minutes, but this is a lot better at staying put. I do find the liquid formula strange - some fake tans are a lotion but this is a really thin liquid and it can drip off my fake tan mitt if I'm not careful! But the bonus to this is it isn't sticky at all.

The Sublime Dry Oil is a tan and beauty enhances for face, body and hair. It contains jojoba, rose hip and avocado oils to help restore skin condition and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Used on the body it also helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks. There are so many different ways to use it; for skin just massage it into dry skin, for hair rub a few drops into hair then leave for 30 minutes (or overnight) and wash, for nails massage it into cuticles, or add 3-4 drops into a bath to help soften skin while relaxing.
This is one of my favourite beauty oils, it is so easily absorbed and leaves my skin silky soft!

Rapid 1 Hour Liquid Tan costs £22.50 and Sublime Dry Oil costs £20.

Soap & Glory Sit Tight Super-Intense 4D firming serum

I am a huge Soap & Glory fan and their range of body firming products does not disappoint. Sit Tight 4D is a targeted firming and smoothing lower body serum. It has a roller ball application to stimulate circulation and help smooth the skin.

It claims to have slow-release ingredients that work optimise when you sit down, and will make your skin firmer in 14 days. Usage instructions say you should use it twice a day by pressing the rollerballs against the skin, squeezing the gel out and massaging it across problem areas. After trying this out for a couple of weeks I can confirm that this does in fact work! I only used it in the mornings so I think I may have noticed more results in the evenings too, but it has made my skin a lot smoother. I would apply it to my hips and thighs and could feel a tingling sensation as I applied it. Throughout the day I could feel it working on my inner thighs as I moved around at work!

Sit Tight Super-Intense 4D costs £18 and is available from Boots.
