Summer Dressing

When it comes to fashion I usually play it safe with staple wardrobe items, then invesst in a few stand out pieces to help make outfits pop. Statement fashion and jewellery can transform any outfit, so the experts over at Red Dress have offered their top tips on how to make a fashion statement this summer.

1. Statement Jewellery
The easiest way to jazz up any outfit is with some statement jewelry. I have a collection of necklaces from various high street stores including Primark, Topshop, New Look and Accessorize that I just pop over a plain t-shirt or dress. You can also liven up any outfit with some blingy statement earrings . At the moment I'm loving tassel earrings - like these gorgeous turquoise tassel earrings - or, for evening events, pearl statement earrings  are also a sophisticated choice.

2. Bold Colours
Having blonde hair I'm quite lucky that I can pull off bold colours and love wearing bright shades of pink, red purple and green. I recently bought this cute pink Mango top for just £5 in the sale and at the moment I'm loving all things red and purple including this ASOS dress. If black is the staple colour in your wardrobe (I don't blame you!) then opt for colourful accessories instead. Go for a bright bag or jewellery (I love these green statement earrings)

3. Keeping it casual
Sometimes it's hard to do statement dressing when you don't want to be too over the top and just want to keep your outfit casual . The simplest solution here is to invest in some slogan or graphic tees that are both comfy and stylish at the same time.

4. Dressing up an outfit
I've always been someone that shys away from high heels and always worn flat shoes, purely for comfort, but recently I've realised the impact that a high heel can have. It makes any outfit look a little more classy and helps to elongate the legs. I've found the best way to take any outfit from day to night is to pop on a pair of heels. I like something with an open toe or a pair of caged heels.

If you're feeling a little more daring, the underwear as outerwear trend is still going strong and you can team a bodysuit or bralette with a pair of jeans and some heels for an easy evening outfit. I recently got this bralette from Passionata and I usually wear it for lazing around at the weekends as it's so comfrtable! But the great shape and gorgeous lace is perfect for dressing up too. I also love the bright fun colours of these bralettes By Caprice.

  1. So many great pieces here! I'm not a huge colour wearer but I have been trying to incorporate more colour into my looks recently!
